Groups are what add a great dynamic to any FotoBilder site – with groups, individual galleries can be limited in such a way that only certain groups are able to view certain pictures or entire galleries. Imagine the scenario of posting a gallery of pictures of a frat party – perhaps the party got a bit crazy and people started to get a bit lewd and garish; you probably wouldn't want your parents to see the string of pictures you took when the body shots started. With FotoBilder, you could define a group of accounts that consisted of your family members - while the default security level of the pictures in a gallery are the same as the level of the gallery, you can select the ‘mixed security’ option for the gallery, and then filter the family group from pictures you've defined as "lewd".
To cite a less outlandish example, groups can be used to create preview accounts: you can have public ‘preview’ galleries, while the more substantial galleries can only be viewed by accounts in your ‘trusted’ group.
Defining Groups. The /manage/groups section of any FotoBilder site will allow you to create new groups or modify existing groups, provided that you are logged in. To create a new group, simply enter the name for the new groups and press the "Create Group" button.
Editing Groups. If you have a group defined and would like to edit the accounts in it, or possibly delete the group altogether, then go back to the /manage/groups section and click the link for the group you would like to edit. The link will bring you to a page where you can add new accounts or remove existing accounts. You also have the option to rename the group on this page.
